Sealed Air introduces the first roll-to-roll packaging system designed to simplify the packaging supply chain for small and medium-sized e-commerce businesses and order fulfillment companies.
According to Sealed Air, the QuikWrap Nano and QuikWrap M systems require little to no assembly and require no electricity or extensive maintenance to operate. Each mill can produce FSC-certified two-ply honeycomb paper and release paper, which is claimed to be 100% recyclable and promises improved protection for the products it packages.
QuikWrap Nano is the smallest double wrap system on the market for small batches. It comes with a corrugated cardboard transfer case containing 61 meters of honeycomb and tissue paper, which can apparently be custom printed for corporate branding. The dispenser itself is said to be recyclable.
QukWrap M, on the other hand, is designed as an easily refillable system for medium volume operations. Its frame is made of “light and strong metal” and can hold paper rolls up to 1700 meters long.
Their tear-and-safe design is also said to improve customer safety by eliminating the need to cut paper with scissors and speeding up the packaging process.
“Both systems can quickly produce two layers of protective packaging,” says Andrea Questa, Sealed Air’s EMEA Paper Distribution Solutions Manager. “Foamed honeycomb paper provides cushioning, while thin paper in between protects the surface from abrasion. Together, this helps improve the overall customer experience during unpacking as the product is better protected.”

Another version of Sealed Air is a modular packaging station designed to save space and properly organize paper and air packaging equipment. This includes a range of table, shelf and accessory options that are expected to increase efficiency by reducing the number of touch points.
Customers can purchase the Modular Wrapping Station in single, double or custom configurations that are compatible with a variety of Sealed Air branded packaging systems including FasFil paper and proprietary BUBBLEWRAP systems.

Mondi and EW Technology have previously worked together on an automatic and semi-automatic paper tray packing machine for small and medium-sized production lines. Mondi is also partnering with ACMI in 2021 to launch a pallet wrapping system that claims to use paper instead of plastic.
Similarly, Sitma Machinery’s E-Wrap packaging machine is said to use heat sealable paper and scan 3D objects to create customized packaging for e-commerce applications.
